Particulate Matter (PM) emissions are currently the focus of much attention, and diesel emission legislation continues to tighten around the world, the major manufacturers of diesel vehicles have adopted corresponding measures to control particulate emissions. The diesel particulate filter (DPF) is considered the most promising solution to reduce the level of PM emissions to the ambient background levels. The most important issue with DPF is filter regeneration. At present, there is a certain gap between the studies on the domestic Continuously Regenerating Traps (CRT) and the ones abroad. In this paper, the diesel vehicle emission behavior in the transient conditions of driving cycles has first been studied, moreover, the regeneration performance of the CRT system and the effect of some important factors on the regeneration performance were analyzed by made use of the emission behavior. The GT-Power simulation model of 6114 turbo-charged diesel engine was built up, and based on this model the performance of diesel engine was simulated, besides, the simulated date was deal with by made use of BP neural networks. The results show that the calculated values agree well with tested values. So it is proved that the simulation model is credible and the method of BP neural networks to deal with date is feasible. Furthermore, the GT-Drive simulation model of diesel vehicle was built up, and based on this model the match between diesel engine and vehicle is investigated, and the results of match are satisfactory.Based on the GT-Drive model the diesel vehicle emission behavior in the transient conditions of FTP75 driving cycle, NEDC driving cycle and JPN1015DDS driving cycle has been simulated. The vehicle emission behavior in the transient conditions and the effect of driving cycle, speed, acceleration, driving behavior and load on emissions were investigated. By means of simulation, the influence of these factors on emission behavior is analyzed and summarized. Besides, the research on the emission behavior supplied the data for the simulation of CRT.The regeneration performance of the CRT system was investigated. First, the model describing the performance of the CRT system has been developed. This model comprises two basic components: 1) a 1-D NO converter model, and 2) a 1-D DPF model. Secondly, based on the emissions behavior in the transient conditions, the CRT system simulated over the driving cycle. The regeneration performance of the CRT system was investigated. And then, the research on the effect of the initial soot load of DPF, the load of vehicle, the aged catalyst of NO converter and the filter coated catalyst on the regeneration performance of the CRT system has been operated. The influence of these factors on emission behavior is analyzed and summarized.
