Diagrams, Diagram Architecture And Diagram Architect

This paper is a special research about diagrams of architecture. Through reviewing the diagrams used in architecture design and its theories, from three different perspectives including diagrams, diagram architecture and diagram architects, this dissertation explains and analyzes the exercise of diagram, generalizes the main functions of diagram in the practices of architectural design, and by exemplifying several famous architects in the world studies that the diagrams act as a kind of designing strategy in the context of architecture. Hope that the review of diagrams could bring forward some suggestion to our practices of architectural design. The main body of this paper consists of four sections. The first section preliminary discusses the special meaning of architectural diagram in the view of philosophy, concentrates the study on the background of the using of diagram in the design of architecture by illustrate a kind of design trend, and then summaries the primary function of architectural diagram. The second section analyzes a particular combination of diagram and architecture in the aspect of design and accomplishing a building. The third section comparing different architects discusses that the architectural diagram could be used in various ways. The last section makes a conclusion that diagram could operate as an effective tool of design, and examines the problems in the operation of diagram.
