The thick-film metallization of Al2O3 have been studied to improve the conglutination strength and the adhesion strength based on reviewing the development, applications and metallization mechanism of thick film technology. State-of-the-art techniques such as wet milling, screen printing and sintering are used. Effects of organic binder on conglutination strength and effects of printing parameters on sintered metallization are analyzed with viscometer, thickness meter and pull test machine. The pastes having better conglutination strength and printable capability are developed in this thesis. The conglutination mechanisms of organic binder are analyzed in theory and the conglutination strength is studied. It is showed that the viscosity can be controlled between 100~300Pa·s when the percentages of dibutyl phthalate, ethyl cellulose and PVB,beta-terpineol are (2~3) %,(10~13)%,(84~88)% in the organic carrier. The pastes are suitable to be printed because of the good thixotropic performance and dispersibility of the thick film paste.Effects of the thickness of printed paste are analyzed theoretically. The experiments for different printing parameters have been done to improve the paste thickness which influences the adhesion strength. It is obtained from the experiments above that the suitable thickness of thick film should be controlled between 10~35um.Effect of sintering temperature on adhesion strength has been tested. It is showed that the best sintering temperature is in 1530℃~1550℃...
