The stability analysis of the cutting slope has been a bottleneck problem in the construction of highway for a long time. Before the middle of 1980s, the elementary rode was the main of rode construction. The traffic flow was lower, the deep cut and high fill was less, and the investment was lower. So the controlling of slope project wasn't the main project in the rode construction, and it is neglected always. After the 1980s, the stability of slope became an important problem as the prosperity of the rode construction. As lack of research on the controlling measure of slope systematically, the incipient fault of the project is developed. The slope instability can make the traffic break, even a lot of economic losses and bad social effect, at the same time, increase the cost of maintenance and controlling greatly.There are two steps of slope stability analysis: (1) Calculate the safety factor of a possible slide face by limit equilibrium method. (2) Repeat step 1, and find out the critical surface with the lowest safety factor in all possible slide faces.The simplex method is one of pattern search method. With every step forward in search, it will seek descent direction of objective function by calculation, and then continue the search following this direction. If we have a proper original slide surface, it will find out the critical surface speedily.Reliability analysis is proved to be an effective supplement to limit equilibrium method. It is a systematic way to analyze the uncertainty of Geotechnical Engineering.The critical surface can be analyzed by reliability analysis. The results by limit equilibrium method and reliability can be used to analyze the stability of slope accurately and comprehensively.This article takes the slope at Wang Qing -Yan Ji section of Lao Song highway as support, and uses a program we establish which can search critical surface and do reliability analysis to research the stability of cutting slope and landslide. According to the result, we make a comprehensive control method which takes the waterproof and drainage as primary principles, combine with intercepting drain on the top of slope and drain holes in the front of landside especially the usage of retaining wall and ecological protection of slope.The correctness and feasibility of program is verified with calculation, and the development trends of the program are established. This program can be used to analyze the stability of complex slope.
