This paper use W305 hydraulic torque converter for study,based on the basis of fluid dynamics,modeling is used of UG, the grid segmentation is by GAMBIT and computed the result by FLUENT,simulated the flow field of hydraulic torque converter . To do the research in order to solve the problem that hydraulic transmission efficiency and the precision of designs were low and change a situation of long R&D period and low success rate, and further improve the performance of the torque converter and designing and manufacturing level.The following is the main contents:(1)In the beginning of the study were presented background and introduced the hydraulic torque converter structure and working principle. The research told the current status and future development of the main trend, the paper pointed out that the main contents.(2)Explained the basic theory of fluid dynamics,lists two control equation of fluid dynamics (mass conservation equation and conservation of momentum equation).Simply introduced to the use of CFD in solving problems in the process,and then based on the finite volume method of discrete equations on the two-field calculation of the basic side (SIMPLE algorithm and PISO algorithm),analysis of the mesh generation technology,respectively grid,non-structural grid and hybrid grids are discussed.(3)To choose FLUENT to carry on research , the paper introduced the FLUENT soft probably. For getting result smoothly, some assumptions and simplify were taken,To set up the geometric model by FLUENT and to create the grid by GAMBIT. And in order to improve the precision of calculating, to use the grid of hexahedron;To choose separated solver and the implicit scheme model , the turbulent model was the standard k-εmodel and the standard wall function was used at the same time; The boundary condition of the entry was the pressure inlet and that of the exit is the pressure outlet and other wall used non-slip wall;Outlined the convergence criteria and calculated steps.(4)The thesis analyzed the flow field characteristic of pump passage, turbine passage, stator passage in detail and analysis the result.(5)The result of calculation was analyzed and was compared with those of experiment,and maximum error was less,which proved that three dimensional calculation was correct.
