Reinforced concrete slab-column structure with advantages of economical formwork, less total building height and convenient construction, has been applied in construction nearly 100 years. In addition to vertical shear force, slab-column connections also have to transfer unbalanced moment due to combined vertical and lateral forces as a result of wind effect or earthquake excitations. In this paper, a new type of shear reinforcement-shear stud is applied in slab-column connection and study is conducted on seismic performance of RC slab-column connections with shear stud reinforcement.Shear stud as a new type of shear reinforcement has many advantages, such as easily installation, efficient width control of shear cracks, fully-exerted intensity of shear stud via proper arrangement of anchor plate and strap arrangement, economic steel consumption, increase of effective height h0 and improvement of connection ultimate strength and ductility.5 specimens of RC slab-column connections with different ratio of shear stud were designed in this dissertation, and taken quasi-static tests in State Key Laboratory for Disaster Reduction in Civil Engineering at Tongji University. Based on these test data, displacement ductility factor and equivalent viscous damping coefficient are calculated while stiffness deterioration is analyzed. From different aspects, such as deformation, energy dissipation, stiffness and strength, seismic performance of RC slab-column connections reinforced with shear stud is evaluated.Based on research results and test data at home and abroad, plastic limit state method is used to calculate capacity of slab-column connections under combined action of punching shear force and unbalanced moment. A set of equations, which are used to compute the flexure and punching strength of connections, are derived in this paper.Finite element models are setup by finite element software DIANA to get the hysteretic load-displacement curves and the distribution of stress and strain in connections.
