While the highway is achieving high-speed development in our country, bumping at ends of bridge has attracted more and more attention. It has been a problem expecting to be solved in highway construction. A base efficient method to solve the problem of bumping at the ends of bridge is to solve the stiffness mutation. Using geosynthetic reinforced soil (GRS) bridge abutments to solve the problem of bumping at the ends of bridge has been put out in this paper.Analyzing of mechanical behavior of GRS bridge abutments is the focus of this paper. Firstly, the basic characteristic of constitutive model associated with geosynthetic structure has been investigated and fast Lagrangian analysis for continuum method has also been introduced. Secondly, GRS abutments have been model analyzed. Thirdly, overall stability of GRS abutments has been model analyzed respectively by limit equilibrium slice methods and shear strength reduction limited differences method (FDM). Finally design and construction technology of GRS abutments has been researched. The main work includes the following parts:(1) The basic characteristic of constitutive model associated with geosynthetic structure has been investigated. fast Lagrangian analysis for continuum method has also been introduced. Theory and implementation of some constitutive model types such as null model, elastic model, mohr-coulomb model has been investigated. Some basis concept of fast Lagrangian analysis for continuum method has been introduced.(2) GRS abutments have been model analyzed by the limited differences method program FLAC. Comparative analysis between the tested data and the calculated data has been made.(3) Research status of overall stability of GRS abutments has been investigated. Overall stability of GRS abutments has been model analyzed respectively by limit equilibrium slice methods and shear strength reduction Limited differences method (FDM).(4) Design and construction technology of GRS abutments has been researched. Some problem in design and construction have been pointed out. Finally some problem in some suggestions for design and construction are put forward...
