Fire in large department store is one of the most serious disasters in our country. Due to its large quantity Combustible materials, staff-intensive, in case of a fire, it is bound to engender great loss of property and personnel. In the development of fire, the high ambient temperature will have a big impact on the structure, it may result to structure all or part collapse, therefore structural safety in the fire of shopping malls become structural engineers concern.On the basis of fire load investigation of shanghai No 1 shopping mall, fire modeling of flat large-scale shopping mall and structure safety are studied in this paper. The main contents are as follows:(1)Current studies at home and abroad on the fire features of large scale building are summarized, and preliminary studies on the basic characteristics of flat large-scale shopping mall.(2) Learning professional fire modeling software FDS (Fire Dynamics Simulator) developed by National Institute of Standards and Technology , and demonstrating its applicability to moeling flat large-scale shopping mall fire. (3) A fire load investigation was carried on in shanghai No.1 department store, and its fire load characteristics is analyzed. Besides, the fire load database for fire model is built.(4)Building fire model of all stories in No.1 department store by FDS, analyzing the heat release rate and the temperature field.(5)Transient temperature field analyzing of tructure members exposed to fire by finite element professional software ANSYS, and the structural temperature field is obtained.(6) Reasonable simplifying the structure through the component temperature field analysis, making judgments of the structure safety in fire by ananlyzing component stress, considering the material properties of concrete under high temperature.
