Large-diameter cylinder structure is a new structure applied in port engineering, because of the simple materials, good condition of the force construction, economization of construction, little cost and good durability, rapid speed of the construct. So it is being taken more seriously in engineering field. The soil pressure is the main load imposing on the structure. Because the mechanism between structure and soil is very complex, and theories of some calculation are not very perfect, the broad application of this structure is held back.On the base of the achievement of the former research and the experience from practice, this paper describes a three dimensional finite element approach, using the large universal finite software ANSYS, for simulating the interaction between soil and cylinder wharf structure. The cylinder, foundation and backfill soil are considered as an over-all structure, applying for the three dimensional rigid plastic interface elements. This method supplies a new favorable idea for the further study of large-diameter cylinder wharf structure. The main contents and results include as following:1. Generalize the existing soil pressure theoretical calculating formula and put forward suggestion on requirements for some of formula.2. On base of a practice model of Tianjin University, create the finite model and get the result of large-diameter cylinder structure. Compared it with the result of theoretical formula and experiment, find that it is a reliable way to simulate the interaction between soil and cylinder structure using three dimensional rigid plastic interface elements in the large universal finite software ANSYS.3. Refer to the constructional and load-bearing in practical large-diameter cylinder structure projects, create the more large finite model, and get the soil pressure data and distribution in,back of and in front of large-diameter cylinder structure. Then give the advice on part of soil pressure theory.4. Calculate and make analysis of the various potential influencing facts in large-diameter cylinder structure. According to the results and analysis, find the favorable factors in antidumping and sliding of large-diameter cylinder structure.
