Chemical Mechanism Study Of SEAM Modified Asphalt

At present modified asphalt has been widely used in the world and formed a corresponding norms . SEAM is a new-type asphalt Modifier and also an additive used in asphalt mixture.As SEAM modified asphalt has a good use of effects,then there is growing hope that SEAM how to interact with asphalt.On this basis, this paper focuses on the SEAM modified asphalt chemical modification mechanism.In this paper, In order to research the mechanism of modification, the various research measures are carried out such as component analysis,Infrared Adsorption Spectrum Analysis(IR),and X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy(XPS) and so on. The results of IR in SEAM modified asphalt show that:1,The results of component analysis show that: S with Unsaturated hydrocarbons,Aromatics in asphal have a chemical reaction. After modified,the saturation points increased, aromatics content is a constant, glial reduced and asphaltene increased,the rate of saturated carbon become higher, molecular weight and degree of polymerization increased ,but aromatics index become smaller.2,The results of Infrared Adsorption Spectrum Analysis(IR) show that: S with Unsaturated acid,Unsaturated hydrocarbons,Aromatics and other bond activity have a chemical reaction of the sulfate,Sulfone and Ar-CS- Ar and so on.3,the results of XPS also proved that molecular weight distribution,H distribution and the structure forms of S in asphalt and SEAM modified asphalt. After modified, Mw(average molecular weight) and Mn(Number average molecular weight) all increased. S with H have a chemical reaction of H2S. the structure forms of S in SEAM modified asphalt is free S and Sulfur crosslinking ,including some Sulfone.4,Through the anlysis of about theory of compatibility and thermodynamic : asphalt is Continuous phase and SEAM modifier is Dispersed phase in SEAM modified asphalt. The role of SEAM in the asphalt can be divided into: SEAM swelling process of decentralization and stability SEAM reaction process.Based on the above research, this paper presents SEAM modified asphalt chemical reaction mechanism model.At last, Based on the performance of SEAM modified asphalt and mixture,as average molecular weight of modified asphalt increased , itd viscosity become lower; Degree of saturation become higher, weathering and temperature change become better. The research of the SEAM modified asphalt chemical modification mechanism is important for the engineering application. The research and application of the SEAM modified asphalt in the engineering field can obtain the social and economical benefit prominently.
