Considering the sensitivity of nodal voltage to line reactance and variation of reactive power of power grid comprehensively, the voltage instability index is defined as the distance between the current values and maximum allowable voltage, with these as weighted values of each bus and proposed the resperention of vulnerable region. The algorithm of vulnerable region is proposed, by means of the proposed algorithm the influences of system load and line structure changes to voltage are obtained, that is the vulnable index of each bus. The vulnerable buses and regions are determined by vulnerable index of each bus. Applying the proposed algorithm to IEEE 30bus system and IEEE 118bus system, the efficiency of the proposed algorithm is validated by the simulation results and its application value is proved.
