The axial pump is a kind of common mechanical product used widely in every national areas and it is one of the most major energy-consuming equipment in both industrial and agricultural field. At present, pump mechanical CAD is often used to accomplish hydraulic designing with a result is wood pattern chart of blade, then in this foundation, the model is generally made by sand casting, manual relief-grind and technical method of the three-dimensional model examination.In this way, the effect of the blade's surface is usually not way good. For paddle pumps, the hydraulic capability, the cavitation capability and the movement stability are affected by manufacturing technology and machining precision of vane's surface. Therefore, improving the research and design and manufacturing level of pump will gives an important impact on the energy conservation.In this paper, the features of the axial flow pump hydraulic results of CAD design on the basis of the systematical introduction of three-dimensional geometric modeling theory is analysised and a new modeling method of impeller blade according to the mathematical model of geometric modeling which is used at present is discussed. Based on this new modeling method theory and under the Windows XP operating system, using the object-oriented programming tools Visual Basic 6, comprehensive application of dynamic link library, COM interface technology, DAO database technology, feature modeling technology as well as parametrical modeling technology, the second development of the 3D modeling software SolidWorks is done and automatically modeling of axial flow impeller is realized successfully at the same time as well as the efficiency and precision of modeling are ameliorated.Beside these, in this paper basic knowledge of 5-axis simultaneous NC machining is introduced and the tool-path calculation algorithm of blade surface for non-spherical tool 5-axis simultaneous NC machining is presented according to the characteristics of NC machining for freedom blade surface. Through the analysis of technological processes for axial flow pump blade machining, the processing scheme of 5-axis simultaneous NC machining was defined and technological methods and parameters, fixture system and other issues are discussed. Meanwhile, the interference problem for 5-axis NC machining is also introduced. With the right combination of this research with CAM software, under the environment of MasterCAM 10.0, the tool-path of blade milling is generated and computer dynamic simulation of five-axis NC manufacture blade process is achieved.
