With the development of industry and agriculture and the improvement of power system to high voltage, big capacity, complex structures and networks, power system needs higher and higher requirement on safety and reliability. The traditional periodical maintenance has serious shortcomings, which don't satisfy the requirement of monitoring anymore. Therefore, on-line monitoring takes an important role. There are many communication modes in on-line monitoring system, such as simulation transmission, serial port transfer, optical fiber network, ethernet, CAN bus, telephone dialing, wireless transmission etc. Communication modes are confusedly mixed up in the system and this badly blocks the development of on-line monitoring system. So it is necessary to study and standard on data transmission and conversion.There are many communication modes in remote monitoring system, such as optical fiber, wireless transmission, cable mode, power line carrier, etc. Due to the characteristic and requirement of data communication in remote monitoring system, it is difficult to choosing single mode to communicate. Choosing different modes influences the system in real-time, reliability, efficiency, fees on construction and maintenance, etc.Based on the contrast and analysis of many in common use communication modes, and the requirement of wide applied remote monitoring system, a communication mode which satisfy remote area monitoring system is adopted in this paper. This mode mixed up GPRS with wireless data transmission module, and it is satisfied the requirement of this system. Combine with the project of remote monitor and alarm safety system of transmission tower, this mode is studied on and explored to be use. Based on theocracies analyses of channel waste in wireless transmission and module choosing, a communication protocol which suit for line-type route is designed. In order to ensure the reliability of communication, a series of technology is adopted in this protocol, such as store and forward transfer, dynamic routing, retransmission mechanism of overtime and errors, etc. Practicability and feasibility of the protocol are validatad by experiment, testing result and relative analysis is gain in this paper. This mode has some referenced value in fasting development and manufacture of remote online monitoring system.
