As the main way to solve urban public transport problems, urban rail transit becomes the key point of urban public transport facilities construction and management. Along with the rapid progress of urbanization in china, the existing urban rail transit cannot match meet the needs of rising demand for public urban transport. The increasing line construction highlighted networking character however, due to the construction started later compared to other countries, the existing operation theory which comes from the actuality of small-scale urban rail transit network with single-structure is no longer to match the objective demands under the situation of networking operation. This paper discussed issues related to networking operation for the purpose to improve this situation, which proved to be a prospective study.First of all, based on passenger demand and the thought of operation consensus, this paper analyzed the characteristics of the traffic flow in space-time distribution, studied the short-term urban rail traffic flow prediction theory, and proposed a new method to forecasting traffic flow using a combination model constituted with the ARIMA model and the ANN models.Secondly, we work on the main problems of urban rail transit operation organization, such as vehicle marshalling, running paths choices, the transport capacity of rail transit, and the special operation organization for the unexpected incidents on the rail transit network. Mostly include the following issues: first, from the actual demand of passenger flow prediction, the operation organization should use flexible vehicle marshalling program and multi-routing mode to adapt to the development of rail transit on network condition; Second ,based on the principium research of transport capacity of the rail traffic network, we point out that the whole transport capacity of the rail transportation system on network is not just a simple stacking of the liner rail transit capacity, but reflection of the actual transport capacity, to a certain extent. Third, the thesis point out that the operation organization should take timely measures to control the effected and narrow losses when the rail transit operation encounters with unexpected events. Finally, the thesis discusses the coordinated optimization methods of the urban rail operation organization on network based on the passenger traffic demand. A multi-objective programming model is developed for the singled route operation. Minimizing the sum variance from the actual passenger volume to standard capacity and minimizing the number of vehicles used. Then the model is solved by a fuzzy mathematical programming approach to determine the best train plan. Based on decomposition and coordination of system principle, the thesis makes adjustment to line-trail organization to coordinate the network of urban rail transit and get the best results of urban rail system.
