Asphalt pavement with semi-rigid type base often produces reflective crack and water damage, etc premature damage, and the damage strongly reduces useful time of the asphalt pavement. Asphalt treated base belongs to the category of flexible base.It doesn't produce crack due to drying shrinkage and ensures continuous contact to upper asphalt course, which reduces shear and bend stresses in asphalt courses, thus effectively reduces reflection crack in asphalt pavement compare with semi-rigid base. Asphalt treated base material shows superior performance in moisture susceptibility rapidness in construction, low repair cost and long life, too. Based on the study of a materials and structures characteristics on the basis of the paper intensively studied asphalt treated base and grass-roots ordinary asphalt concrete pavement structure at the grassroots level, there are no cracks and cracks under the surface layers both stress and strain status of the in-depth study.By understanding raw materials and the technical nature of mix design, construction technology of asphalt treated base, asphalt stabilized gravel of the strength of the grassroots principle, stress distribution, the failure mode, the low temperature cracking performance. On the road and the mechanical and elastic layered system theory, the finite element method and the basic principles of calculation. The paper analyzed the stress and strain state of asphalt treated base with semi-rigid base cracking or uncracking on the traffic load and the temperature stress with the viscoelastic layers system theory, the ANSYS program and the fracture mechanic theory.the results showeed that: asphalt stabilized gravel surface of the grass-roots make the maximum tensile stress and maximum tensile strain has also been reduced by more uniform of the asphalt stabilized gravel grass-roots resistance to be effective in the expansion of advanced fracture path, weakening tensile stress and strain of transmission capacity, and can absorb and disperse the traffic load and temperature changes in the load stress and temperature stress. In addition, the structure of asphalt treated base smaller contraction coefficient, the size and structure of the gap more than the larger plastic deformation ability to fully absorb the strain energy release cracks, reduce stress concentration. As primary cracking caused cracks on the surface reflection of the damage was effectively eased.
