Modern extra high voltage (EHV) and ultra high voltage (UHV) networks bring problems such as how to transmission power effectively, safely and reliably. Power failures happened in American and Europe recent years which have unprecedented coverage indicate an important subject about how to seek safe and reliable protect and control method of the networks. As the first shelter of networks, relay protection plays an irreplaceable role all along. The dissertation is focused on the development and simulation of new generation transmission line protection.At first, a summary of development of EHV transmission line protection is presented. The history, nowadays and future of developing direction is given. The dissertation is based on these surveys.Based on analysis of characteristic of fault directional discriminating criteria based on superimposed component of compensation voltage, sound phase operating characteristic is analyzed. Self-adaptive setting method of the margin threshold is proposed. And the simulation and analysis of presented scheme is introduced.Power system oscillation model applicable for analysis of computer transmission line protection is constituted in the second part. Theoretical basis of the model is deduced in detail. Tectonic method is presented. The application of the model may be helpful for emulation and the improvement of protection development.Analytical software of fault wave that is used widespreadly has some problems such as non-transparent logic relationship. Dynamic logic diagram software based on vectorgram is developed which makes the logic relationship be clear at a glance.At last, research of high voltage transmission line protection device including some new characteristic is presented.
