In recent decade, with the rapid development of transportation enterprise, many long-span bridges have been constructed or constructing, for deceasing load and increasing the span, the orthotropic steel deck is generally applied for the long-span steel bridge. As the excellent pavement performance of asphalt mixture, it is extensively used for many long-span orthotropic steel bridges deck surfacing, compared with the general road, bridge deck surfacing has special structures, climate and temperature have great influence on its location and damages it easily. The theory and method of steel bridges deck surfacing design is not generally and effectively solved until now, so it is necessary to research key technology of long-span steel bridges deck surfacing design, those have important signification to the development of the science research and the practice of engineering.This dissertation firstly introduces the construction condition and steel bridges deck surfacing of long-span steel bridges, and investigates and analyzes the main failure types of long-span steel bridges deck surfacing, the questions necessarily researched of steel bridges deck surfacing is proposed, according to the study conditions and current questions of long-span steel bridges deck surfacing, the study content is proposed in this dissertation.Secondly the basis theory and hypothesis of Finite Element Method(FEM) computing for steel bridges deck surfacing are proposed, according to the general parameters of steel-box joist deck and surfacing structure of long-span steel bridges in China, FEM models are established and computed by current FEM ANSYS software. Based on analysis the mechanics property and damage rules of the surfacing under the load, the location of critical load is determined, the rule of stress and stain on orthotropic steel bridge surfacing is studied and indexes of design is advanced,the relations between each mechanical index and the elastic modulus of asphalt mixture surfacing materials are analyzed. According to the main failure types necessarily controlled of steel bridges deck surfacing, the index system of steel bridges deck surfacing structure design is proposed.The conclusions of this dissertation can be used straightly on the design of bridge structures and bridge deck surfacing, and as a base for farther analysis.
