Electro-coagulation technology can combine various purification process such as electro-coagulation, electro-flotation, electro-oxidation and electro-reduction to function as a unit, and also to leave out metering equipment and coagulant feeding equipment, thus it is important to research water purifying process fit for water supply project in rural areas ,moreover, combing the electro-coagulation technology with other water process as a unit can provide a reference for the research. Electro-coagulation, vortex coagulation process,air-flotation process, contanct flocculation filtration process are combined by designing and optimizing as an multi-functional integrated water purifier in this paper, and the experiment research is discussed .The originalities of this integrated process are as follows:(1)The structure of electro-coagulation reactor has been reconstructed by fixing three perforative boards. This innovation can enhance the flow condition of turbulence, strengthen the speed of sub-micro process mass transfer, boost the destabilization and flocculation of collids; as a result the electric efficiency is improved. This process is called vortex-electrocoagulation.(2)By using the vortex reactors made of ABS plastic stuffing to form tiny vortices to intensify turbulence effect, the process of vortex coagulation can therefore strengthen the sub-micro process mass transfer ulteriorly and improve the chances of collision and agglomeration of flocs to form larger flocs.(3)Electrocoagulation process, vortex coagulation process, air-flotation process and contanct-flocculation filtration process are intergrated in one reactor, thus, the purifier can treat water sources of different water quality:when it is used to treat low turbidity of water source, vortex-electrocoagulation and contanct-flocculation filtration process is operated; when it is used to treat wastewater for car-washing,it is suggested to operate vortex-electrocoagulation, air flotaion and contact-flocculation filtration process.The purpose of this study is to discuss the treatment effect of water quality and related parameters in the process of this new integrated purifier. In this study, the treatment effect of the application of the reactor to treat low turbidity water source and wastewater for car-washing is investigated. The influence of various factors such as PH, electric current, electrolytic time, addition of electrolyte,addition of perforated boards and electric wave form on the treatment effect is discussed , and the best experiment conditions for the low turbidity water source and car-washing wastewater treatment are determined respectively: U=20V, I=0.15A, t=40min and U=25V,I=0.6A,t=10min. The contrast experiments between electrocoagulation process and chemical coagulation process show that for low turbidity water source,the treatment effect of integrated process was almost the same as the chemical coagulation, the amount of feeding coagulants of the former was lower than the latter, but the former increased the cost of electricity; for wastewater for car-washing, the treatment effect of electrocoagualtion was slightly better than chemical coagulation, but not apparent, and COD of trated water can not reach the requirements of wastewater discharge standard.In the end of this paper, the operation cost analysis are also discussed: the operation cost for low turbidity water source treatment is 0.97yuan/m3; for car-washing wastewater treatment, the operation coast is 1.28yuan/m3.
