With the surge in demand for energy of human beings and the reduce in demand for fossil fuel as well as their increasingly harm to the global environment, finding the new energy that can be sustainable utilized is to be a key mission. Biomass energy as a renewable energy has been got important attention of the countries all over the world. To study, exploit and utilize the biomass energy has become an important task for all the countries in the world. This dissertation breaks through the traditional mode, and has developed a novel technology to investigate the biomass, which turns the biomass into micro-powder to utilize, so we can gain sufficient energy. It is significantly important for sustainable utilization and environment protection. The shredding technology of biomass can not only overcome such disadvantages as low energy density, large space placement and inconvenient transportation when biomass is in the initial condition but also offer the pretreatment technology for biomass utilization in energy, feedstuff, fertilizer and material fields. This dissertation regards the biomass discarded in agriculture as the subject such as corn stalks, sawdust and so on, It analysis their physical properties, shredding and combustion characteristics, also combined with a mechanical shredding basic theory. Then we summed up the mechanical shredding mode most suitable for primary shredding and the advanced shredding of the biomass by the small-scale test in lab——the shredding way from the hammer crusher. We conducted a pilot trial on the basis of small-scale test in lab, which mainly composed of feed workstations, primary shredding, advanced shredding, Cyclone dust catcher, powder collecting hopper, bag collection of fine powder, fans etc. Throughout the operation process the raw material joined in a closed circulation system of its own until the powder expel from the system in no need of manual operation, which is easy to operate. The system can reach the output of about 300kg/h with the average biomass powder size of 0.125mm. There are obvious economic benefits of the pilot trial according to the systematic analysis and the budget of all the cost, thus achieving the unity of the environmental benefits, economic benefits and social benefits.
