For the whole electric power production system in China, the ratio of thermal power units to the total installed capacity is very big. This situation will retain a long period of time. The monitoring and control of operation parameters of power system in the thermal power plant is mainly performed in the control room. The human-machine interface is composed of the transfer and exchange of information and energy between the operators and display and operation system. Whether the design of human-machine interface is good or not directly affects the operation security, quality and efficiency of the whole plant. Therefore it is of great significance to make an evaluation on the human-machine interface of control room in power plant.It is essential to have the entity model for data measurement, proper theory and methodology as well as the evaluation index and criterion before an evaluation on human-machine interface is made. To do this, the UG software is employed to model the human-machine interface of power plant's control room. The evaluation is performed with grey theory after comparision and analysis to several methods available. The existing evaluation indexes are improved according to the present national standards and actual situation of power plant.The major works in the dissertation include:1.With the No.3 machine group of Yantai power plant as prototype, the models such as display, operating device, control table, control cabinet and so on are established with UG software.2.The various evaluation methods are demonstrated, including grey theory, artificial neural network and fuzzy mathematics. By comparision of the advantages and disadvantages of these methods, grey cluster analysis is used as the subjective evaluation method for human-machine interface of control room.3.The subjective and objective evaluation indexes are improved according to the national and power industry standards. The evaluation index system of human-machine interface for control room of power plant is established.4. The comprehensive evaluation is performed on the human-machine interface of N0.3 machine group of Yantai power plant by use of the comprehensive evaluation software developed by our research group. The quantified results are attained and the analysis is made to the results so as to propose an improved design scheme for the human-machine interface.
