Wind power generation has been developed to be a very important area inrenewable green energy because of its cleanness, no pollution, short buildingperiod and low running cost. Wind turbine with Doubly-fed Generator has beenused widely due to it has a lot of merits. For example, it is very convenient toachieve variable speed constant frequency and flexible to regulate active powerand reactive power and has low excitation capacity. MW-Class Doubly-FedGenerator is one of chief control objects in the large capacity variable speedconstant frequency wind turbine. The performances of Doubly-fed Generatordirectly determine entire wind power system. So it is of great significance to studyand design MW-Class Doubly-Fed Generator.First, the paper dissertats the fundamental operational principles ofDoubly-Fed Wind Generator and studies its interior electromagnetism relationship,power balance characteristic and rotor inverter parameter matching. At the sametime, the operational characteristic of Doubly-fed Generator is simulated byMATLAB. The second, the design characteristics and the electromagnetic designmethods of Doubly-fed Generator are discussed. And used the Visual Basic 6.0 astool, developed the electromagnetism design program and software of which toimprove the design efficiency. The third, the effects of harmonic voltage sourceinverter to Doubly-fed Generator are studied, including analysis of harmoniccomponents in voltage source inverter, establishing the harmonic equivalentcircuit, calculation of circuit parameters, losses and torque made by harmonicvoltage in machine and etc. Based on that, the electromagnetism design softwareof Doubly-fed Generator is derived with taking into account of the effects ofharmonic voltage source inverter. At last, the static electromagnetic field andtransient electromagnetic field of Doubly-fed Generator have been analyzed indetail by the Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software of Maxwell. The result ofanalysis compared with the calculative result by VB program confirmed thevalidity of design data about Doubly-fed Generator in chapter 3 and chapter 4.
