Metal curtain walls are widely used to decorate the large buildings, because of its good characteristic of the flexible. The double curved surfaces of metal curtain wall, such as sphere, ellipse and paraboloid, are partitioned into many small curved surfaces, and each of them is outspreaded into plane. After that, its external minimal rectangle as a rectangular object is cut from the plate material. All of the planes are combined the curtain wall. The double curved surfaces are non-developable surface. A few of developing method are proposed. Because the orderliness and the smooth curve are requested in the metal curtain walls, the proposed methods are not suitable for it. To large scale rectangular objects, the different placements make the different ratio of using sheets. Finding the optimal placement method satisfied with quire cutting is very helpful to reduce the cost of production. This paper proposed a method of equal apothem for the development of double curved surfaces that the distance between the edge points and the center of curved surface is changeless before and after the curved surface is developed. To its cutting from plates, a method satisfied with quire cutting is proposed, which combined a rectangle matching- partition method and genetic algorithm. The computer program is designed for the methods proposed in the paper, and numerical simulation experiments are implemented. The numerical simulation results show that the methods proposed in this paper satisfy the development request of the metal curtain wall, and the method of rectangular object layout can find better solution.
