Along with the swift development of the freeway of our country, freeway traffic accidents also submit the tendency that goes up year by year, every year people who died on freeway takes the 67% of total people died in traffic accidents, it is more than 16 times of ordinary freeway. In freeway traffic accidents, near 1/3 is caused by vehicle impacting with guardrail, by this, it has caused huge personal casualties and property loss , therefore, installing the suitable guardrail on freeway has significant effects on preventing traffic accidents. Along with the vigorous development of the freeway construction of our country, the demand of guardrail will increase rapidly, so it is extremely urgent to enhance the research in field of guardrail.This paper firstly has taken a brief analysis on domestic and international traffic accidents and development characteristic of the freeway of our country, and made a general statement on the research of domestic and international freeway guardrail, then it taken a conclusion that computer simulation method is an effective method for guardrail research in worldwide scope now, afterwards, it made a simple introduction for collision simulation software MADYMO.Then this article has carried out a detailed discussion for the aspects such as the kind, the design method as well as the assessment of performance of freeway guardrail, at the same time it has discussed passenger's injury mechanism in the course of collision, and has pointed out the most serious injured positions and reasons that caused passenger injured in automobile-freeway guardrail collision, then it analysed and expounded the damage parameter and evaluation standard of human body.This paper has established the finited element model of automobile and the multi-rigid model of freeway concrete guardrail based on MADYMO software, through different initial collision conditions, it has analysed the course of automobile colliding with freeway concrete guardrail as well as the biological mechanics respond of passengers in the course of collision, from which, we have reached some valuable conclusions. Then this article have carried out optimization research for the configuration of freeway concrete guardrail from two aspects, and through simulation it has verified optimization results, which offered reference for the structural optimization of concrete guardrail and the improvement of vehicle in the future.Finally, this paper has summarized dynamic characteristics of automobile and passenger and defending characteristics of guardrail in the course of automobile-freeway concrete guardrail collision, and has put forward some problems that met in research course, in the last it made a prospect for the research goal in the future.
