The concrete porous brick, which has advantages such as soil saving, energy-conservation, environmental protection, and light sole weight, has already become the first-selected wall material for chamotte.With the development of economy, the performance-based design of structures has been greatly concerned. This method of design consider ensures of personal security and economic manipulation from the earthquake. Now the performance-based design of structures has been one of the famous methods for seismic design. In this text, composite structure of brick walls and reinforced concrete walls has been used for performance-based design of structures to enhance the improving of seismic performance.Pushover procedure is considered as an efficient tool in Performance-based design methodology which pushes structures with some kind of load patterns until target displacement is reached. This method can evaluate the structural performance under earthquake events. In this text, ANSYS, software for finite element analysis, was used for pushover procedure to prove the improvement by reinforce wall in bricking-up structure.14 different schemes were designed for evaluating the performance. It includes the choice of material capability, loading device and loading project etc. Based on the analysis of data collected from the pushover procedure, the number of the reinforced concrete walls has greater influence to make the composite structure working well in earthquake. Divide the value of interstorey displacement of composite structure of brick walls and reinforced concrete walls for classification of performance level and after analysis, the answer was indicated that the composite structure could be used for the performance-based design.On this basis, combines the specific project, contrasts computing results with survey data, gets some conclusions that are significant to engineering design.The finished major processes of this article are as follows:(1) Confirm the stress-strain relationship of brick and reinforced concrete.(2) Set up the model of the composite structure of brick walls and reinforced concrete walls.(3) Use pushover procedure to the 14 different models.(4) Evaluate the influencing fact for structure performing.(5) Evaluate the performance of the composite structure.(6) Test application in project.
