As far as the Multiple Unit (MU) is applied into the passenger transport lines, the noise becomes more and more important as the rising speed of the MU. Thus the control of the noise becomes one of the most critical technical problems on the premise that the speed of the MU is guaranteed.In this article, the contribution of each source of the passenger transport lines noise is presented through the long-term research on it and lots of other data both domestic and abroad. The contribution also provides a firm basement for the following research of the noise control. Since the application of the sound barriers along the lines is the most common and effectual way to control the noise nowadays, the model of both railroad bed and the railway bridge with a track-side sound barrier is created using the software RAYNOISE. Thus the insert loss of the sound barrier under different conditions of the lines can be obtained as well as the efficiency of both practical and economical. The practical of other ways of controlling the railway noise which are still theoretical or under test are also discussed in the article. At last, proposals based on former analysis and conclusion which is also a combination of noise control methods of both domestic and abroad is presented.
