In the beginning, the Paper gives a brief review of the sloshing problems in engineering and sloshing analysis methods. In order to improve the compution efficiency and the precision at the boundaries of the original VOF method when simulating the sloshing on prismatic tanks, the partial cell parameter is introduced to improve the original VOF method in the paper. Then using the improved VOF method simulates the sloshing on the prismatic tank model with different filling levels and stimulating periods, and the free surface height history and pressure histories at different points of the tank model are obtained, the agreeable conclusion can be drawn from the comparison between the results of simulation and experiment data. The cell sensibility test also approves that the cell refinement has little effect on the precision of the improved VOF method. At last, the Morison equation is adopted to analyze the sloshing load on the pump tower in the LNG tank.The main contents are as follows:1) The partial cell parameter is introduced to improve the original VOF method, so that it can treat the complex boundaries such as bottom side plates in prismatic tank liquid sloshing analysis.2) A new hybrid method of exploitations and continuous condition is employed, which eliminates the instability of the improved VOF method in some cells.3) The numerical simulation results of the improved VOF method and Morison equation is adopted to study the sloshing loads on the pump tower structure in the LNG liquid tanks.
