This paper is supported by the projects of the National Natural Science Fund 863 Project"a new generation of intelligent traffic control system key technology"sub-topics"related to the state traffic control access to technology"under grant 2006 AA11Z228.With the rapid development of urban road and transport needs of the growing urban traffic on the road, there have been frequent incidents and increasingly serious traffic congestion. Through a review of urban road transport in the state at home and abroad, the history of the development and research of the traffic state identification, clearly the current conduct of the study's purpose and significance, in summarizing the experience gained and achievements of problems on the basis of the existing traffic state identification Analysis and algorithm is reviewed, and decided the ideas, research and research priorities of the papers. The main research work includes the following aspects:(1) Urban Traffic Research PerformanceThis paper seeks to urban road's traffic state identification to traffic managers and participants, to provide dynamic traffic basis for decision-making. Therefore, the research of different levels of urban road traffic and traffic flow measurement indicators of the state is very necessary. In this paper, in accordance with China's urban planning division in the commonly used method, the operation of urban road traffic was analyzed to determine the state of road traffic Criterion.(2) the study of the operation characteristics of service vehiclesService vihicles equipped with a GPS as a floating car to make traffic information collection and traffic state identification can greatly reduce the cost of road traffic information collection and improve spatial coverage, improving traffic congestion management efficiency and effectiveness. But bus and taxi running on the road in the city, because of the difference of operating services, operational purposes, different vehicles, the operation is very different Traffic flow characteristics of the extent of operation are quite different. In this paper, study the operation of bus and taxi; discuss the relationships of the trip-speed between service vehicles and road traffic.(3) the study on the method of service vehicle's GPS data acquisition and processing. As the wider use of GPS technology in the field of transport, GPS technology has developed into a new type of road traffic information collection method. The traffic information collection technology based on GPS floating car, the allocation of some parameters has an important impact of traffic status identification on the reliability and real-time, including the division of the road, data sampling time interval, the time interval of data analysis, data transmission time interval and samples of the floating car. This paper mainly studied on the division of road in the process of information collection methods and the methods to deal with GPS data.(4) Method of traffic state identificationIndentifying the traffic abnormal state promptly and accurately is very important for advance the efficiency and effect of traffic manage. In this paper, I designed a traffic state indentification method based on GPS data of service vehicles. And then analysis the affect of probe vehicles sample-size on the reliability of traffic state identification result. Last the simulated data was used to validate the method proposed. At last, the paper made a summary and outlook on the work. analyses the findings and achievements, and in accordance with the problems identified in the study, the authors next need to continue to study and improve the work.
