As the increasing level of motorization and urbanization, the intensity of land development on both sides of urban roads is growing higher and higher, and the current urban roads entrance has large quantity and density, besides, these entrances'geometric design features, traffic organization, channelization, and facilities of bus stations lack overall consideration, leading to the efficiency and safety of urban trunk roads facing a serious threat.This paper first conducts detailed analysis of the traffic features of entrances, and in six aspects of its layout, geometric features of entrances, traffic organization, measures of channelization, slow traffic and bus stations, conducts comprehensive and systematic analysis of the urban trunk roads entrances installment's influence on the mechanism and consequences of its efficiency and safety, and give further specific analysis of advantages and disadvantages of layout of the different forms of entrances, geometric design features, traffic organization, and channelization.According to the mechanism of these effects and impact of results, the U.S. highway access management technology is introduced to propose corresponding traffic processing technology, including policy measures and engineering measures. Policy measures on the import and export access to road location, access permission; and engineering measures carry out detailed traffic study on main entrance layout (including entrance spacing, corner clearance, import and export density) and the layout, import and export geometric design features (including entrance access road length, width, angle, turning radius), transportation organizations (including traffic organization, management tools), measures of channelization (signs and markings, traffic islands), bus stop (stop position, and entrance spacing), slow traffic and determine the recommended values of relevant indicators.Finally, indicators and methods of entrances efficiency of urban roads and traffic safety evaluation are proposed. Traffic efficiency mainly uses indicators of V/C, TTI, and delay time to evaluate, while traffic safety is to be evaluated through the evaluation model.This paper boldly combines relevant technologies of highways and urban expressway ramps with microscopic traffic processing technology, aiming at proposing effective measures and improvement to enhance service level of urban trunk roads, and simultaneously provide a theoretical basis for management administration.
