Performance Evaluation And System Improvement Of Shanghai Public Transport Enquiry System

Public transport information system is an important part of intelligent transport system. It makes public transport system reliable and convenient, which is good to strengthen the relationship between public transport system and travelers, and to improve traveler's satisfaction with public transport system.Firstly, through comparison and analysis of the characteristics of different public transport information services, mainly with consideration to private users, this paper reaches the conclusion that public transport enquiry system is irreplaceable and important. Secondly, based on the research findings of public transport information demand home and aboard, the characteristics of traveler information demand for public transport system is further analyzed and summarized, especially the main factors affecting traveler's information demand and what is traveler interested in. Thirdly, two surveys are made, namely, the traveler information demand in shanghai and the Shanghai public transport enquiry system, and through the analysis of the data from the surveys, a comprehensive mastery of the traveler information demand in shanghai and the performance of Shanghai public transport enquiry system. At last, based on the previous study, the performance of Shanghai public transport enquiry system is evaluated, and after which improvement works to the existing system is carried out.The study of making improvement to the existing system based on the analysis of information demand is a new approach and it does make sense practically and theoretically both to the improvement of Shanghai public transport enquiry system and to the design of information systems for other cities.
