| With the rapid growth of vehicle population and vehicle miles traveled,the situation of traffic congestion and emission is severe in the metropolitan cities of China.The real-time traffic information released by traveler information service APP on mobile device can not only help travelers avoid traffic congestion,but also improve transportation system’s performance.Furthermore,it may play a unique role in promoting urban air quality.With the rapid development of Traveler Information Service(TIS)on Mobile Internet Devices(MIDs),the traveler’ behavior has change a lot.The traditional transportation methods/models can no longer evaluate its’ traffic and environmental benefits systematically.Therefore,clarifying the impact of traveler information sharing on travelers and evaluating the influence of traveler behavior’s changes on traffic and environmental benefits have become the hot topics in the field of intelligent transportation.In addressing these deficiencies,this study develops a novel approach for quantifying the relationship among TIS on MIDs,traveler’ behavior,traffic benefits and environmental benefits.Firstly,an agent-based model(ABM)for the behavior of traveler with TIS is developed based on the theory of behavior psychology.Secondly,the traffic simulation model is built and consolidated with agentbased model to qualify the traffic impact of travelers’ behavior with TIS.Finally,the vehicle emission model is developed for the calculation of the emissions of vehicles and evaluation of the environmental benefits.This study provides not only scholars but also industry practitioners with multi-dimensional understanding of TIS on MIDs and a deep insight into it’s promotion and management.The outcome of the study will be an integrated multidimensional and simulation platform that can be used to provide scientific decision support for transportation policies and measures towards more time-,energy-,and emission-efficient transportation systems.The simulation results show that agent-based model can effectively simulate the traveler’s behavior which is difficult to be modeled in traditional traffic simulation.Meanwhile,the guidance information of APP can bring the traffic and environmental benefits.The traffic and environmental benefits of APP are not all positive,they are different under different traffic conditions.But there is APP usage range(25% ~ 50%),the system of traffic or environmental benefits is more optimal.What’s more,the optimal status of traffic and environmental benefits is hard to achieve at the same time. |
