A detailed study on the moisture sensitivity of high grade Asphalt Pavement is performed from raw materials selecting, mixture gradation designing, moisture sensitivity evaluating indoors, moisture damage prediction model establishing and so on.Firstly, on the basis of the research findings of asphalt mixture water stability home and abroad, reasons for the shortage of water stability of asphalt mixtures is analyzed and adhesion–peeling mechanism between mineral aggregate and asphalt is discussed; as to gradation design, both orthogonal design method and uniformity design method are used, also SAS software is adopted to take regress analysis, so that regression equation is established and extremum is reached, as a result, percent passing of all sieves are determined. Meanwhile, further experimentation verification indicates the gradation determined above is better than others in water stability on an equal footing.Secondly, based on the gradation determined above, aggregate type, asphalt type , porosity, aging degree, the type of anti-stripping materials ,etc, which are considered as influential and typical factors to the asphalt mixture water stability, are chosen for orthogonal experiment L18 (2×37) whose assessment indices are splitting intensity and remaining freeze-thaw splitting intensity ratio; and through a large amount of laboratory testing, the effects of factor level's changes on asphalt mixtures water stability is discussed systematically and quantificationally. Furthermore, in the process of data analysis, a comparison between range analysis and gray entropy correlation analysis is put forward, and similarities and differences between the two methods are analyzed; finally by combining both, the following conclusion is gotten, that is, the most significant factor affected water stability of the asphalt mixture is asphalt type, and anti-stripping material types and aggregate types take second place.Finally, taking the splitting intensity ratio as the index which represent the water stability of asphalt mixture,both the fuzzy neural network and fuzzy reasoning theory are adopted to forecasts the remaining splitting intensity, and the results indicates that the Fuzzy neural network has higher accuracy than Fuzzy Reasoning in the prediction, have a certain value academic and engineering applications.
