With the development of the electric power system, the fault diagnosis system of power grid is more and more important for the security and stabilization of the electric power system. Based on the status quo and problem in fault diagnosis system of power grid in nowadays, this paper put forward a layered and distributed fault diagnosis system of power grid. That is: the information in dispatch center is layered, and set up substation in some power plants or power transfer station to make up of the distributed system. Make the layered and distributed structure integrated together to achieve maximal resource utilization ratio and improve reliability of results of fault diagnosis. Together with inheritance algorithm, and make use of switch information to confirm the fault area, that can minish search space to improve search efficiency. Put forward the technical support needed to achieve on-line fault diagnosis. And deploy the substation system.
