Along with the electric market expanding gradually, managers of coal power plants can not satisfied with that units are working orderly. They also want that the units should run as economically as possible. The performance calculation of thermodynamic system and thermal economic analysis are very significance to economic operation and energy saving of coal power plant.The economic analysis of the thermodynamic system is one of important studies in this thesis. Performance calculation of heat economic about thermodynamic system of coal power plant is a basic method in design thermodynamic system, analyzing and directing the safe economic operation of the coal power plant. Considering the characteristic of effective running thermodynamic system, a general math modeling of heater as well as analysis of thermal economical system were developed on the basic of heat equationmethods, which was supplied to building equipment modeling.The unit of 600MW capacity thermoelectricity generation was taken as an example in this thesis, the general matrix heat balance equations were introduced, then the direct-viewing graph modeling method were selected, and it has been applied in the principled thermodynamic system analysis. A new direct-viewing graph modeling method was established, which combines MATLAB with Visio in this thesis. The Principal Component Analysis method was used to decrease dimensions of power plant DCS historical data, and the key variables which affect the power plant efficiency were found out. So it can be judged whether power plant runs in the economic efficiency condition or not. In the visible graph modeling process, the Visio generating graph files can be called by MATLAB in ActiveX control, then generating the thermodynamic system relevant matrix by extracting the relevant parameters of connecting pipeline and equipment node, which can calculate the thermodynamic system performance. Simultaneously, the GUI which based on MATLAB was completed, which can demonstrate the calculation results of the 300MW and 600MW thermodynamic system.Based on the theories of the thermodynamic system analysis, the study on the application of Matrix method for power plant thermodynamic system analysis is done to present an efficient system analysis tool, in which Principal Component Analysis is further used to analyze thermal efficiency to be better or not. It is also a key technique for the safety operation and productivity of power plant in multivariate statistical process control technology. At last, the principle components which effect the thermal efficiency were find out, and then control the principle components in order to enhance the thermal efficiency, at the same time we take the water cooling unit and air cooling unit of 600MW capacity as application examples which proved the Principal Component Analysis enhanced the thermal efficiency.
