In recent years, substation technology having evolution towards automation and digitization. With the fast development of communication technology and microelectronics technique, automation system of substation has caused the greatly renewal, so the current communication mode of the primary equipment and secondary equipment in substation has not met the need. With the presentation of IEC61850 standard, many functions of substation are transferred to process layer to accomplish. However, the communication interface between primary equipment and secondary equipment is the problem that need deeply research and design, and the merging unit is the key realization equipment.The thesis which propose to study and design the embedded merging unit controller based on IEC61850 standard, is for the purpose research and design one kind of power system information acquisition equipment which met the need of substation process layer. The equipment based on IEC61850 standard and embedded technology, based on high-performance, industrial-grade ARM microprocessor—S3C 2410X, used embedded Linux as OS. Controller can merge transducers' sampling data and status data, which were put out by Ethernet network.This paper firstly summarizes the background and meaning of the research, analyzes the present research status of the interrelated products in the domestic and foreign. Secondly, it narrates the merging unit based on IEC61850 and substation automation system, analyzes the hardware structure of the embedded merging unit controller and the function modules, introduces the transplantation technology of embedded OS and the establishment of the development platform. Thirdly, it analyzes and simulates the Manchester decoding and CRC by using FPGA, analyzes the identifying method of merging unit's synchronization signal and the producing plan of sampling equipment's synchronization signal, and analyzes the event model of sampling datas transmission. Then it introduces the research and design of Ethernet technology based on IEC61850 standard, analyzes the network communication of universal data set and status data set in detail, introduces the scheme of embedded network controller and develops the interface of system monitor. At last the article puts forward a transition scheme which realizes the function of merging unit and tests the performance of merging unit.Embedded merging unit controller based on IEC61850 standard is available for automation and digitization of substation process layer. The returns of this paper establish the reference value for the future research of technique in leading edge, and have worth in project.
