Electronic transformers have more advantages than electromagnetic transducer, such assmall sizes, large dynamic ranges, without ferroresonance, good insulation. So it will bewidely adopted in digital substation. But in the realization of digital substations, one of thekey technologies question is how to interface between the electronic transformer and thesecond equipment, and the merging unit is the device of connecting electronic transformerand the second equipment, so researching the merging unit not only can simplify the secondequipment but also can improve the accuracy and reliability of system within the substation, ithave great significance.Based on IEC61850standards, this thesis described and researched the features andfunctions of merging unit of the relevant standards. At the same time it is reasonable dividedto three function modules: data receiver module, data-processing module and data outputmodule, which is based on the design of this thesis. At the same time, this thesis proposes therequirement of engineering application that the merging unit must adapt to.This thesis first introduces the data receiver model of the merging unit using the FPGAtechnology. It also research in-depth the synchronization problem of merging unit, and use themethod of clock synchronization to sync the sampling data of merging unit, this method cangood guarantee data synchronization; Then it analyzes the data-processing module and dataoutput module in theory. In addition, according to the actual situation of substationmaintenance, this thesis proposes the requirement of engineering application that the mergingunit must adapt to.Therefore, this thesis can provide the valuable reference of merging unit to solve theproblem, such as same time multi-tasking, communication of information flow, engineeringapplication.
