Philosophical Studies On Symbolical Language Symbols In Chinese Traditional Architecture

The originality of Beijing Olympic Torch stems from a design of the "Auspicious Cloud", wihich stands for "origin intergrowth, harmony and grace". The originality of Beijing Olympic Torch Relay comes from "Fire Phoenix", symbol of the auspicious, immorality and race. It is difficulty to show Chinese cultural elements without these traditional cultural symbols like as "Auspicious Cloud" and "Fire Phoenix". Hence the charming of the culture, as well as the function the the language and symbol can be shown clearly. "Culture plays a crucial role in a nation's cohesion, cleativities and nation power". With the development of the society, culture becomes more and more important. Architecture, as the carrier of culture, is one part of human cultue. Architectural Language symbol is also a part in building architectural culture. Being a country with a 5000-year history, China's language symbol in architecture is plentiful, and it needs us to be inherited and developed to form modern architectural culture.The paper studies symbolical language symbols in architecture with the guidance of Marxist Language Philosophy and the reference from Modern Language philosophy in Western, Modern Semiology in Western. It uses the intercourse study method with concerns Language Philosophy, Semilogy and Architecture. At the very beginning of the paper, the main idea of Marxist Language Philosophy is discussed, then a brief introduction to the development of Modern Language Philosophy in Western and Modern Semiology in Western is followed; the language symbol in architecture is classified according to the view point from Language Philosophy and Semilogy that architecture should be viewed as a semilogical system, they are symbolical language symbol in architecture, graphical language symbol in architecture and indictive language symbol in architecture. In the body part, the color deisign, the patterns numbers involved in architecture are analyzed, organized and summarized, through which the symbolical philosophical intension is appeared. At the latter part of the paper, it proposed that in order to build a modern architectural culture with Chinese style, we should do more than improve awareness of the architectural language. We should inherit the language symbol in Chinese traditional architecture selectively and innovate in them, absorbing the splendid fruits form broad to enrich modern language symbol in architecture, which can do good to improve the culrural connotation in our cities, buildings and makes contributions to form a harmonious society.
