With the continuous accumulation of experience in earthquake disaster, People realize that the earthquake ground motion is multidimensional. Whether the structure is symmetrical or eccentric, it has the potential to reverse shock damage. Seismic tests of the structure analysis which consider only one-dimension is not enough, multi-dimension impact on the structure should also be analyzed. So, Bi-axial Pseudodynamic test is an important aspect of Pseudodynamic test development in the future time. The issue originated from the verification of the MTS Bi-axial Pseudodynamic system. The bi-axial pseudodynamic method is proposed for the testing of structures under two lateral perpendicular seismic excitations in this paper, which only consider rigid body translations and rotation precisely and the geometrical nonlinearity due to large rigid body motion in such kind of testing can be fully neglected. This paper introduces the calculation methods of MTS bi-axial pseudodynamic software, which includes the establishment of motion formulas, geometric modal, actuator length, restore force and torsion. At last, it is through a Bi-Directional Pseudodynamic test of one-storey steel structure to compare the experimental results with numerical simulation results calculated by SAP2000 and to verify the reliability of the equipment.
