The Kang's manor sits on the terminal of the Loess Plateau, along the Yiluo river, where there is the Yellow river in the North and the Mount Song in the south. It's an advantaged geographical position. As a sentry, the Gongyi city nexts to the ancient capital-Luoyang. So, Gongyi is the center of wars and a place with economic prosperity from the ancient times. Immersed in such an environmental and cultural circumstance, the Kang's manor formed a special architectural style and cultural meaning.Manor-style settlement and the cave-building combinative forms of architecture is the most prominent characters of the Kang's manor. This thesis explores the origin and elements of manor, and analyses the whole environment,overall arrangement and architectural style of the Kang's manor. Besides, compared to other manors which were in the same region, it was going to sum up the commonness of architecture in this region.In the process, the thesis instructed the "Heluo" culture,family culture and "Yushang" culture which were closely concerned with Kang's manor. The region of "Heluo" is in the middle reaches of the yellow river,and the "Heluo" culture is the center and origin of the yellow river culture. The Kang's manor is immersed in the culture. The family culture forms strict orders between different roles. The thinking that agriculture is the basement of other things made a profound influence to the trade of kangs' family……This thesis studies on the investigations in the region and comprehensive documents, charts and mapping, summarizes characters of the architecture, sorts out the cultural meaning such as social system and values. Finally, it brings a forward principles and advices of the protection of the Kang's manor, based on the comprehensived understanding of its value, in order to inherit and continue the culture of traditional architecture.
