Like a window, vehicle's instrument displays the condition of auto which plays a very important role in the course of traveling. With Fault Diagnosis, Global Navigation and GPS assembled on the vehicle, traditional vehicle's instrument can't afford any more. But with the progress of computer technology, the development of Automotive Electronics and the wider application of embedded technology. The vehicle's instrument is on the road of digital, concentrative and intellectualized.According to the functional need of the vehicle's instrument, this dissertation developed a system based on ARM7 and uclinux .this system is designed under the thinking of embedded system.Hardware platform take S3C44B0X as processor produced by Samsung and extend CAN communications interface circuits. The design of software include the construction of uclinux development environment, the development of drivers,GUI and the porting of embedded database.Through the intelligent node collecting real-time information , CAN bus will link up these intelligent node. the processor units access information on the CAN bus. CAN bus technology will be introduced into the system in order to achieve data transmission, mainly because of a growing number of electronic and electrical equipment has been applied to the auto, resulting in the electrical system more and more complex. To solve these problems, vehicle's bus technology came into being, and have made a big process. After the information have been processed,on the one hand the information will be displayed by graphics.on the other side, information will be stored to the database.Through research, vehicle's instrument system based on ARM7 and uelinux is feasible and useful.
