Metaphora was a kind of rhetoric in linguistics and philosophy,the origin of meaning can be traced to the word of"metaphora"in Greece,the meaning is"significant change"in Greece,In other words:use known things to explain the new things,and built on the basis of imagination and association of ideas.In nowadays design,the designers firstly consider not only the function of being used about product,but also contain the products communicate emotion,culture and so on,this metaphor is no longer rhetoric gimmick in language,but to be one kind of way expressing thought and emotion.The metaphor applys in products design,can be binds with object in different system through designer's association and imagined activity in the process of design,in order to let products can communicate the broad and deeper meaning of metaphor to consumer.This paper makes a discussion about the basic metaphor theoretics,and expound and analyse how the metaphor is embodied in the linguistics,psychology,design learning,building,advertisement and product design.In order to deeply understand and cognize suchness of metaphor,properly apply metaphor to product design more well. Metaphor of product transfer information through sign of product,form of product,color of product to people,it is result of people's physiology and the mentality interaction about product,this paper makes a discussion about sign,form,color in the design of metaphor.And summarize and sum up the technism and step about design of metaphor.The paper focuses on the analysis of the issue about how metaphor to be used in product design,carries on the analysis to combs with the proof obtains elementary theory,the mentality,the step and the frame about the metaphorical design in the product design,through analysis,combs,reason characteristic and the method of the domestic and foreign product design.The metaphor is a kind of rhetoric technique in the linguistics,also is a part human culture,is a kind of important manifestation of the human thought,in which culture connotation is essential.In article final proposed to pay attention cultural and designer's moral question in the metaphor design.This paper carries on the comprehensive theoretical analysis to the metaphor,and conclude and summarize the metaphorical design,obtains the more perfect theory frame; Increases the new method for the design thought,discovers the new breach for the present design present situation.In the information age nowadays,designs one only to create a work,but also let the user arouse more memories and the emotion through the work,because the metaphor has such characteristic,make the metaphor especially important and diverse in the application of design.Designer and the consumers obtain a kind of material and spiritual satisfying through designing and using the design.The metaphor enables the product the design to have the very big display space,the metaphorical product convey well the itself correlation culture,the ideal condition and the connotation for the user.
