Arch structures are widely applied in civil engineering as many superior characteristics, such as its beautiful shape, large rigid, good economic profits, etc. But there are also some defects about arch, especially it easily becomes instability under outside forces. In order to improve the stability of arch structures, recently a new structure form combined arch with cable is appeared called pre-stressed reinforced steel arch. Among all the researches on this new type structure, most of them are about static analysis and in-plane stability analysis, but research about overall stability analysis and dynamic analysis of the structure are limited. Thus, it is necessary to have a deep and systematic research in order to promote the application of pre-stressed reinforced steel arch in engineering.First, in-plane stability performance of pre-stressed reinforced steel arch is analyzed, including elasto-plastic stability under different loading conditions and parameters, such as rise-span ratio, pre-stress force of cable, cable section, member length, initial defect and asymmetry loading, etc, are analyzed to show the impacts to stable ultimately bearing capability of pre-stressed reinforced steel arch.Based on the analysis of in-plane stability of pre-stressed reinforced steel arch, this paper places a great emphasis on overall stability analysis and dynamic stability analysis of pre-stressed reinforced steel arch. Elasto-plastic overall stability under full span nodal loading and half span nodal loading are analyzed, and the superiority of the rigidity and capability are revealed compared with arch overall structure. Parameters and asymmetry loading are analyzed to show the impacts to stable ultimately bearing capability and initial defect are studied as well. Natural frequency, vibration modes and impacts to structure with different parameters is studied in natural vibration characteristic analysis. Natural vibration characteristic and dynamic response analysis under horizontal seismic with one dimension is also analyzed.Finally, cable and members are brought into single layer cylindrical shell structure, and formed a new structure called reinforced steel shell structure. The rigidity and bearing capability are analyzed to show the superior of the structure.
