Noise is one of the major factors affecting motorcycle's amenity, it also pollutes theenvironment. Noise is caused mainly by engine's induction, exhaust, burner, and vibration,etc., among which half is the surface noise caused by the vibration of the thin-wall partsattached to structural. Motorcycle's crankcase cover plate is its engine's major component,which would vibrate to radiate noise under the force of the crankcase when the motorcycle'sengine operates.The optimum design of the crankcase cover plate of the engine calls for finding out itsvibration features first to reduce its radiation noise. The present paper gives modal analysis ofthe engine's crankcase cover plate of DAYANG 200 by the use of ANSYS software. Based oncrankcase cover plate's CAD drawing, this present paper establishes the solid model byemploying Pro/E software with the combination with crankcase cover plate's solid model.Then it carries on finite element emulate analysis with ANSYS software, getting thestructure's natural frequency and corresponding modal. To make sure the influence of itsstructure's boundary condition on its natural frequency and corresponding modal, this paperputs forward seven different boundary conditions in calculation.The calculation result of the present paper is the basis of further dynamic and noiseanalysis of crankcase cover plate, it also provides calculation basis for its optimum design.
