Suspension System is one of the important unit assemblage of modern automobile. With the development of the design of suspension parts toward slight weight, the flexible deformations of the suspension parts have been highlighted so far. Therefore, it is a great necessity for people to research the flexible elements' influence on the vehicle ride comfort. The double-wishbone suspension, as a complex space mechanism with many loops and complicated movement, has been applied broadly in the automotive industry nowadays. Due to the complicacy of its parameters, making it difficult to analyze the motion of the double-wishbone suspension, a method to analyzing and designing double-wishbone suspension based on multibody system model is put forward in this study.First, this paper is intended to establish a mathematical model to derive the coordinate formula of the key points for movement on space of double-wishbone suspension on which a dynamic analysis for the double-wishbone suspension could be based. Then the curve of the suspension kinematics and dynamics through the preparation of procedures could be obtained. Second, the study tries to seek a simulation model by means of ADAMS software and gets the performance curve. Finally, based on the establishment of mathematical and simulation model and the comparison between them, the paper puts forward two optimization methods. Moreover, optimal performance curve will be drawn before and after optimization. The study indicates that both uses of the two methods would get the correct and effective results, but, by contrast, simulation model based on the ADAMS has the advantage of making the modern design of the vehicle suspension simple and clear for its intuitionistic model and simple calculation. Therefore, a conclusion may be drawn that compared with the traditional method, it is more beneficial to the development of vehicle design technology.
