In order to obtain the best correlation between riding stability and safety in various operation conditions,Double-wishbone independent suspension is used by disconnected front axle system of the modern automotive widely.Because the suspension affects the riding stability and safety deeply,it is designed by using computer to enhance quality and capability.This paper researchs the optimal design and the evaluation method for splitting steering trapezoidal mechanism based on double wishbone independent suspension.Traditional design method usually used plane construct or plane analytics,because of neglecting the arrangement forms of the suspension system,it is difficult to obtain the good optimization result.The principles of spatial mechanism and the displacement of coordinate are applied to work on kinematic analysis of the splitting steering trapezoidal mechanism of familiar double wishbone typed independent suspension,according to a real vehicle's spatial layout of double wishbone independent suspension and steering trapezoidal mechanism,a constrained optimization design model is set up with the steering tie-rod splitting points and steering trapezoidal arm points as the optimization variables,the range during which the position of the steering tie-rod splitting points and the steering trapezoidal arm points are allowed to change as the constrained condition,and the extent how the real difference between left and right wheel angle is close to the theoretical difference between them while steering as the objective function.Then,use MATLAB optimization toolbox to make a program to optimize the steering trapezoidal mechanism.,utilize the ADAMS software to set up models and simulate the movement of characteristics about alignment and scrub radius and so on as the wheel are steering or bumping up and down.Comparing the characteristics between optimization fore-and-after showed that the optimizing method can make the relationship between left and right wheel when steering closer to theory of steering angle,reduce the tyre'wear,improve the riding performance and security of vehicle.
