Though many researches about pollution flashover of composite insulators have beendone, the properties of leakage current under different factors still lack systematicallystatistical analysis. Moreover, it is of great importance not merely for mastering thewetting process and but also for analyzing the flashover mechanism to study the modelsof the wettability process along the composite insulator surfaces. Thus, in this paper, based on the artificial contamination tests, the statistical properties of leakage currentunder different temperatures pollute and hydrophobicity has been acquired. And basedon the long time change of fundamental component of leakage current on compositeinsulators, by using several optimal linear equations to substitute wettability process, theauthors firstly summarized the math models to describe the wetting process of compositeinsulators. Meanwhile, the wetting characteristic under different factors has beencontrastively studied.Based on phenomena in the pollution test, several factors, which may affect the electricfield distribution, are studied by numerical calculation on computer. Then, the authorvalidated the phenomena that the arc developed along the slot from the angle of electricfield distortion.
