The Spatial Modeling Construction Of Expressway Facilities And The Implementation Of Expressway Facilities Management Information System

Recently, with the development of national economy and the pace of Expressway's construction, the quantities of the Expressway facilities are increasing. In order to improve the modernization and scientific level of the management of Expressway facilities and to implement the exact geographical position and the query about comprehensive information of Expressway facilities, GIS technology should be used into managements. The construction of the spatial data model of Expressway facilities will be more favorable for the effective management of facilities and meet the professional needs. At present, the existing systems of Expressway facilities focus more on road surface, traffic flux, engineering systems of Expressway facilities and conservation of facilities, less on facilities model. Therefore, the construction of the spatial data model of Expressway facilities is very significant.Through the review of GIS spatial data model, aiming at the characteristics and management needs of the Expressway facilities, the Object-Oriented method is advised to construct the spatial model of Expressway facilities. The main contribution of the paper includes: 1) The Expressway facilities are reclassified based on study of their meanings and constitution. 2) The linear reference system is designed depended on the characteristics of Expressway management. The corresponding relationship between linear reference and space location of Expressway facilities is constructed. The facilities are managed according to linear reference system, which furnish the foundation for the effective management of Expressway facilities. 3) The spatial data model of Expressway facilities is constructed based on the data analysis from conceptual model, logistic model and physical model. 4)The Expressway Facilities Management Information System is designed and implemented by using the data of Expressway facilities as sample experimental data which collected by vehicle-borne 3D data collecting system. The spatial data model of Expressway facilities is utilized to implement the visualization of facilities data in the system and it is proved to be feasibility and applicability through testing the query and analysis of facilities space and attribute information.The construction of Expressway Facilities spatial data model is helpful for transportation management department to manage and conserve facilities, and thus can be of great use to assist professional with decision-making and improve management efficiency.
