Stability analysis of rock slope has always been a major issue in construction project. It has brought great difficulties to rock slope's stability analysis , because of that the actual rock contains a lot of discontinuous weak structure surface in different structures, occurrences and characteristics (such as level, joints, cracks, weak sandwich, dykes and fault fracture zone, etc.). Rock slope stability is mainly controled by the rock's structure plane. The traditional searching methods used in soil slope's stability analysis are difficult to apply to the rock slope. How to create a theory to reasonablely describe the structure mechanical acts in the discontinuous rock, is the key point of consummating the theory of the rock slope's stability analysis.This paper begins with the solution of non-linear FEM, and introduces three different methods in solving non-linear FEM, and, to each method, the paper analyzes their basic theory, solving steps and characteristics. Other more, the paper introduces the displacement of criteria, nonbalance force and energy of FEM.Secondly, for hard structure plane in continuous structure plane, the paper adopts contacted pair and dynamical arithmetic to deal with the uncontinuous problems; and, for weak structure plane, the paper adopts continuous simulation to analyze the weak structure plane's problem in rock slope. Comparing with traditional analysis methods, both of the methods are credible in analyzing the stability of slope.Finally, FEM was used to analyze the stability of a rock slope deal with an actual project. Strain, stress and displacemen of the rock slope were analyzed. The safety factor of the slope is 1.12. The project of reinforcement is instituted by horizontal shift map and shearing strength map.
