It has strict demands on bedding filling for high speed railway. As for the Dazhou-Chengdu passenger & freight mixed transport line, lacking of high quality filling, it is not possible to fill the whole bed using high quality filling economically. So we should widen the bound of filling. If the filling of D is validated by test that it can be used as the bedding filling, it will contribute to the construction of national railway greatly.As the past studies on red mudstone are not enough and thoroughly, the bed diseases take place continually every year in the past railway or highway construction using red mudstone as filling. The area in which lacking of high quality filling but distributing abundant of red mudstone, if we want to use red mudstone as bedding filling, it demands systemic study of physical and mechanical characteristics on red mudstone.The first application using red mudstone as bed filling appears in ballastless railway for Suining-Chongqing line. However, it just limits to using red mudstone to filled as the embankment infrastructure, there is not a example using red mudstone filled as the subgrade bed, there is distributing higher dynamic stress in the subgrade bed basing on the past studies.Basing on the studies of red mudstone for Suining-Chongqing line, we take parallel tests to study the characteristics of red mudstone for Dazhou-Chengdu line in this paper, including compacting, triaxial shear, CBR, free swell, dynamic triaxial test and so on. It requires dynamic triaxial test to study the dynamic characteristics for the argumentation of using red mudstone as the filling in bedding bottom. It bears great fruit basing on this test, such as characteristics of dynamic stress-accumulative strain, dynamic strength, critical dynamic stress, dynamic Young's modulus, characteristics of damp and so on. These fruits contribute greatly to using red mudstone filled as the bottom of subgrade bed and bedding infrastructure during the design and construction of Dazhou-Chengdu line, it also gives advice for the construction of railway and highway in the area distributing abundant of red mudstone.
