The Front End Computer(FEC) of SCADA system take charge of stipulation's transform and data's pretreatment. The electricity railroad FEC has a higher need of real time capability. At present, FEC is widely used based on Windows mostly. But Windows operating system can't deal with data in time, and Windows operating system's frangibility would reduce the efficiency of FEC. Moreover, as WindowsCE, some proprietary real time operating system's expensive price limits their application in FEC.According to the most problems in the development of electricity railroad FEC, the shortage of Windows, Linux and other proprietary real time operating system's in the development of FEC is given , The prominence advantage of RTLinux as develop operating system in the development of FEC is discussed. The idea that developing electricity railroad FEC based on RTLinux is put forward. In this paper, the capability of RTLinux system is analyzed, and the hardware of FEC in this system is designed. The serial port and network's drive program based on this hardware in RTLinux is developed.Firstly, there is a necessary analysis and illumination to stipulations and protocol that used in FEC. We introduce multithreading, share memory of RTLinux, the development of FEC and so on. Because of these methods, the capability of FEC will have an upgrade. Then we give the frame of the whole system, and detail designed software of the FEC that based on RTLinux. At last, a particular environment to analyze the real time capability of Linux and RTLinux is designed. Through these result and analysis, the feasibility of our method in the paper is validated.Using RTLinux as the development platform of FEC, we can improve the real time capability of FEC, and reduce the develop cost of FEC remarkably. To the development of electricity railroad FEC, using RTLinux as the development platform of FEC is significant actually.
