The automatic binder with spatial cylinder cam mechanism is a new binding machine. It can not only simplify the transmission-mechanism, but also make the binding fast and credible, and the binding quality has been improved greatly. At the same time, it can be seen that the changes of cam parameters also influence the binding quality at a biggish degree. The paper analyzes and discusses several important problems in design of the spatial cylinder cam mechanism, and designs the parameter and structure of the spatial cylinder cam mechanism in detail.According to demands of the automatic binder to binding quality and rivet figure, the movement reguler of driven component in cam mechanism is choosed and designed. Based on the geometry of conjugate surfaces, with the knowledge of spatial tensor, the profile equation is formulated by the geometry and kinematics analysis to the spatial cylinder cam mechanism for the automatic binder. The calculational formula of pressure angle and curvature are derived, and the maximum of pressure angle and the change course of curvature are analyzed. To satisfy the demand of work, the pressure angle and the curvature are checked. On the basis of analysis and design, the particular design of spatial cylinder cam mechanism for the automatic binder is finished.The got parameters of the spatial cylinder cam mechanism for automatic binder provide data for design of else mechanisms in automatic binder. The application of got parameters in cam manufacture can improve the cam quality, improve the precision and efficiency of transmission systems of machine further, and achieve the aim of improving the performance of the whole machine ulteriorly and extending the using life of machine.The calculational formulas of cam profile equation and various parameters establish the theoretical base for the optimization for the parameters of the spatial cylinder cam mechanism for automatic binder.
